Continuing Professional Development

Competence is ongoing, not a one-time badge.

IAPCCT members commit to continuing professional development (CPD). This framework sets out how much CPD is expected, what counts, and how to record it.
Annual expectation

CPD hours by credential level.

PPL

16 hrs
per year

CPL

24 hrs
per year

APL

30 hrs
per year

EPL

40 hrs
per year
What counts

Four categories of CPD.

Formal learning

Courses, workshops, conferences and accredited programs. Up to 100% of CPD.

Reflective practice

Reading, self-study, peer groups and structured reflection. Up to 50% of CPD.

Supervision & mentoring

Receiving or giving supervision and mentor coaching. Recommended each year.

Contribution

Writing, presenting, mentoring and volunteering that advances the profession.

Recording your CPD

Keep a simple, honest record.

Log the date, activity, category and hours, with a one-line reflection on what you took from it. Keep any certificates of attendance.
IAPCCT may ask to see your CPD record at renewal or on a sample basis. Members applying for a higher credential submit their CPD as part of the application.
